Woman faces jail for killing hubby over porn
November 19th, 2011 - 7:15 pm ICT by IANSLondon, Nov 19 (IANS) A British woman faces up to 50 years in a US jail for killing her husband after she found that he collected child pornography.
Joanna Findlay, 41, shot her 55-year-old husband Gary Trogdon in the chest. Though he survived the attack, soon after he shot himself in shame, the Daily Express reported.
Trogdon was a former US Air Force lieutenant colonel.
Scotland-born Findlay was found guilty of attempted murder after a trial in Maryland.
She will get a maximum of 30 years for the murder attempt and up to 20 years for using a hand-gun to commit the crime.
Findlay, who moved to the US 15 years ago and lectures in English at Maryland University, has denied both charges.
The court heard that she discovered obscene images of children on her husband’s computer.
She challenged her husband, and he agreed to seek treatment. But they later argued.
Findlay told the court her husband assaulted her and she shot a pistol at the floor to scare him before calling police.
