Woman divorces husband for refusing to take bath
October 12th, 2010 - 5:20 pm ICT by IANSDubai, Oct 12 (IANS) A newly-married woman in Egypt was granted divorce after she complained that her husband was refusing to take bath for a month.
Gulf News reported Tuesday that the woman went to court, which ruled in her favour and granted divorce barely after a few weeks of marriage.
The woman, who is an engineer, told the court that she was “surprised” that her husband refused to bathe because of a certain type of “allergy from water”, said Egyptian Arabic-language newspaper Al Masri Al Yaum.
As she wasn’t convinced, she went to meet his doctor. The doctor told her about the man’s allergy, but he stated that the disease doesn’t prevent him from cleaning up.
When the woman confronted her husband with this fact, he was outraged.
“This is my habit,” she quoted him as saying.
After he refused to divorce her, the woman moved the court.
