Woman commits suicide at China Foxconn plant
November 25th, 2011 - 7:03 am ICT by IANSBeijing, Nov 25 (IANS) A young woman employee killed herself by jumping from a building of multi-national electronics giant Foxconn in China, police said.
The incident took place in Shanxi province Wednesday, police told Xinhua Thursday.
Li Rongying, a 20-year-old employee of the company in Shanxi provincial capital Taiyuan, jumped off the fourth floor of a workshop.
A suicide note was found, which indicated that she killed herself over disappointment in a relationship, police said.
Foxconn, one of the world’s largest computer component maker, assembles products for Apple, Sony and Nokia. The company came under the spotlight last year after a string of suicides by workers across China, which analysts blamed on tough working conditions.
The company currently employs 1.2 million people.
