Dec 13, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The constant wrath of the brutal weather in the form of blizzard is still creating a lot of nuisance all over Wisconsin. Its road conditions are still lying stagnant with excessive accumulation of snow all over, that is creating hindrance for the travelers while making their daily life quite difficult. All though the situation is getting better, it is not under control as yet.
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation, the Wisconsin State Patrol and the Brown County Sheriff’s Department are constantly asking the motorist to avoid traveling until the weather gets completely settled. The authorities have also asked the people to abide by certain preventive measures so that they can handle any emergency situation with ease. They have asked to keep 500 feet of distance between the vehicle and a snowplow or salt truck whenever they are traveling while also carrying food and blanket in case of any emergency. The authorities started warning about the situation on Friday, while on Sunday, Gov. Jim Doyle declared a state of emergency. The blizzard was accompanied with overnight whiteouts in certain areas. However, most of the highways were open on Sunday, except Highway 14 in Walworth County, which remained completely covered with snow.
It has been noticed that even during the most risky times, the rate of accidents were less than that of last year, which can be attributed to the cooperation on the part of the drivers and the motorists. So far, no death or serious accidents have been reported due to road accidents, Tod Pritchard, a spokesperson for Wisconsin Emergency Management said. However, things are now getting gradually settled and it may be under control in the next two days.
