Winehouse refuses to go back to hospitalJuly 1st, 2008 - 1:07 pm ICT by IANS
London, July 1 (IANS) British singer Amy Winehouse has refused to go to hospital after her performance at Britian’s Glastonbury music festival backfired. Her family and friends are afraid that she might go back to drugs. Thesun.co.uk quoted a friend as saying: “We feared a taste of the outside would remind her what she’s missing and it would be hard to get her back into life at the clinic. That’s exactly what’s happened.”
Winehouse, who is suffering from emphysema, was admitted to The London Clinic two weeks ago.
She was clean and was excited about her comeback performances at Glastonbury and the Nelson Mandela bash.
The friend added: “Doctors said we should let her do the shows because performing is what she lives for. We can’t take that away. It seemed the right thing to do because she was so excited. She looked and sounded better than she has in ages at the gigs.”
But Winehouse punched a fan at the festival.
“Sunday was like she was on a terrible comedown from the whole thing. She kicked off and threw all her toys out the pram. She told Mitch (Winehouse’s father), ‘I’m climbing the walls in here. I need to get out’. She said if he didn’t help her get out she’d walk out. He realised he had to let her leave, otherwise he’d have no control over where she goes and what she gets up to.
“He’s with her and keeping an eye on her, but he’s beside himself. Everyone is gutted as she’d been doing so well and hasn’t touched any drugs for two weeks. But now she’s out we fear it will all go downhill.”
