London, March 17 (IANS) Troubled British singer Amy Winehouse will appear in court for charges of common assault over an incident at a charity ball.
The 25-year-old singer is accused of punching a woman in Berkeley Square in central London Sept 26 and is due to appear at City of Westminster Magistrates’ Court, reported thesun.co.uk
“Amy voluntarily attended a police station in London. She was questioned by appointment in relation to an accusation made after the Berkeley Ball last year,” said her spokesperson.
“She was charged with common assault and will attend a court hearing in the coming weeks,” he added.
Winehouse has recently returned to Britain following a two-month break in the Caribbean.
