Wine worth a million pounds stolen in London
May 26th, 2011 - 3:26 pm ICT by IANSLondon, May 26 (IANS) Rare and expensive wines worth more than one million pounds have been stolen from a warehouse in London, police said.
A gang of at least six men used a fork-lift truck, two vans and a lorry to steal over 400 cases of the vintage drinks, the Daily Express reported.
The huge collection of expensive wines was being stored in a warehouse in London’s east end. Some of them are estimated to be worth more than 3,000 pounds a bottle.
“The stolen wines will be top end clarets like Chateau Latour and Mouton Rothschild. They will be worth around 36,000 pounds a case,” a source said.
The warehouse was trading in wines where buyers invest to sell for a profit three or four years later.
