Jan 31, (THAINDIAN NEWS) After his whistle-blower website WikiLeaks attracted the ire of governments across the world especially United States for publishing confidential documents as well as diplomatic cables, for the very first time founder Julian Assange appeared on a television interview to talk about a variety of issues relating to his website. While talking to ‘60 Minutes’ Scott Kroft, Julian Assange reiterated that the values of his whistle-blower website was similar to that of the Founding Fathers of the United States while adding that his organization had never violated any kind of rules and had always played by them. The WikiLeaks founder emphasized that the website had operated just like any other publisher in the United States and mentioned that there was no precedent in the history of the nation which showed that a publisher had been prosecuted for espionage. At the same time, Julian Assange also divulged that the ire that his website had attracted from the U.S. government since the diplomatic cables were released had taken him completely by surprise while adding that the backlash from the government was nothing but the result of embarrassment.
The WikiLeaks Editor-In Chief’s interview on CBS news magazine ‘60 Minutes’ was recorded at his home in Britain as he is in the process of fighting extradition to Sweden in relation to two cases of sexual misconduct.
