Washington, May 1 (ANI): The White House has been accused of hypocrisy after it banned a San Francisco Chronicle reporter who had posted an online video of President Barack Obama commenting on accused WikiLeaks whistleblower Bradley Manning.
Journalist Carla Marinucci used her video phone to shoot some footage of protesters demonstrating at a fundraiser in San Francisco.
The video caught President Obama on camera saying to an attendee at an event that Manning “broke the law,” prompting some legal experts to argue that in saying so Obama has “destroyed the chance of a fair trial” for Manning.
Marinucci posted online the video of Obama commenting on Manning’s guilt.
The move is said to have infuriated the White House, resulting in her banning and even threats to other reporters.
Marinucci was apparently banned from being one of the approved pool of reporters to cover presidential visits to the San Francisco Bay area, The Daily Mail reports.
When the Chronicle reported on the ban, the White House press office denied it had happened, which sparked an angry response from Chronicle editor Ward Bushee.
The newspaper has slammed the administration as ‘hypocritical’. The White House has not yet issued an official response to the Chronicle’s accusations. (ANI)
