Texas, Jan 20, (THAINDIAN NEWS) If people are planning to settle in Texas, then they must bear in mind the cost of living that is involved in living in that place. Texas is one of the richest places in the world. The town of Westlake, in Texas, has an estimated annual average household income of $250,000, which is 5 times more than the average for the entire country overall. Westlake is the home of only 703 residents, including the homes of sports stars like golfer Todd Hamilton and other chief executives, including Matthew Rose of railroad company Burlington Northern Santa Fe. Laura Wheat, the Mayor of the town of Westlake, told a leading magazine that the town is very small and it has a number of highly paid professional athletes living there; CEOs of some of the biggest corporations live there, and the place also houses a popular band of brothers.
The next most affluent neighborhood that comes into the list is the Village of Kenilworth, a suburb of Chicago. Here, the median household income rounds up to $247,000. Mission Hills, Kansas, having an average household income of $243,000, comes third. The county having the highest concentration of affluent neighborhoods was Nassau County in New York. The villages of Plandome Manor, Munsey Park, Plandome and Hewlett Neck were among the wealthiest neighborhoods of America. The average estimated income of all these places ranged something between $234,000 and $242,000.
According to census data, the average household income of the country was $49,777 in 2009. A leading magazine looked at the U.S. Census’ American Community Survey from which it drew the conclusion. The town of Westlake also has the only municipally-owned federal charter school of the state. Accounting services firm Deloitte is building a big $300 million training center, that would add to the strong corporate presence.
