Lanzhou (China), April 15 (Xinhua) A gun, explosives and knives have been seized from six monasteries in a Tibetan-populated area in China’s north-western province of Gansu, authorities said Tuesday. During an inspection Monday, the police confiscated a gun, dynamites, five detonators and seven knives in one monastery and five bullets in another, the provincial government said.
In Xiahe county, the police seized five knives and 11 flags of the Dalai Lama’s government-in-exile that is based in the Indian town of Dharamsala.
A total of 2,204 people, including 519 monks, have surrendered to the police following violence in Tibet, officials have said. The police have released 1,870 of them.
