Weapons factory busted in Ireland
January 13th, 2011 - 8:05 pm ICT by IANSLondon, Jan 13 (IANS) Irish police Thursday busted a weapons factory at a remote farm in the country and arrested five suspects in this connection, a media report said.Police found metal tubes and other parts for making vehicle-mounted heavy mortars and pipe bombs inside two cargo containers on a farm land near Monasterevin village, 65 km southwest of Dublin, Sky News reported.
The suspects who were detained are aged between mid-20s and 50s.
A police force operating under the code name “Operation Designer” has been tracking Irish splinter groups.
The operation tries to identify people who are supplying weapons for use in Northern Ireland.
