We know where Dawood is: CBIApril 24th, 2008 - 1:21 am ICT by admin
New Delhi, April 23 (IANS) Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) director Vijay Shanker Wednesday said the agency knew the whereabouts of India’s most wanted fugitive Dawood Ibrahim but Pakistan’s non-cooperation was impeding his arrest. “We know exactly where Dawood Ibrahim is and efforts are being made to get it (deportation done) through diplomatic channels and through the international community,” Shanker told reporters here on the sidelines of the ninth D.P. Kohli Memorial lecture.
Dawood Ibrahim, declared a global terrorist by the US, allegedly masterminded the 1993 serial Mumbai bomb blasts, which claimed 257 lives.
“He (Dawood) is in such a country which has a track record of not cooperating with India when it comes to terrorism,” Shanker said.
“CBI has facts that Dawood is being given safe shelter in Pakistan. But Pakistan is not cooperating,” he further added.
The CBI has been raising the issue through different diplomatic channels but Pakistan has denied Dawood Ibrahim’s presence on its soil.
