We have to win all games now, says TendulkarMay 9th, 2009 - 7:33 pm ICT by IANS
East London, May 9 (IANS) After their third consecutive loss Friday night in the Indian Premier League (IPL), Mumbai Indians have to win their remaining five matches if they want to make the semi-finals.
Skipper Sachin Tendulkar said that his team has to push for a win in every match and put big totals on board.
“Whatever games are remaining, we have to win them all. We have been pushed to the corner and we will have to start to put up some big totals on the board,” Tendulkar said.
On why he dropped himself down the order against Daredevils in the absence of Sanath Jayasuriya, Sachin said: “It was a tough call, for both me and Shaun Pollock (chief mentor). But sometimes you have to take certain decisions. Sanath took it sportingly and Luke was picked ahead of him.
“We were just trying out different combinations. I wanted to send Luke Ronchi up the order and figure out how he does. He looked pretty good in a couple of practice games.”
Tendulkar said that his spinners have done a fantastic job and asked the batsmen to pull up their socks.
“I think the three games we won here have had contributions from lesser known players as well. There are certain things where one has to make a call. Our team as a unit has to perform,” he said.
