New York, Mar 18 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Wal-Mart has fired a worker because he was using medical marijuana. Even though his usage was legal, and had been prescribed by the doctor, yet his employer choose to fire him. Joseph Casias is suffering from sinus cancer and also has an inoperable brain tumor, which is pressing, against his skull. The collective pain due to both of these ailments is immense, and hence Joseph was prescribed medical marijuana to deal with it.
In his defense Joseph says that he never used medical marijuana while he was working and he also never went to work while he was ‘high’. But he got the shock of his life when he went to work one day and found that he had been fired. “I never thought I would be terminated for this. At first I thought, ‘This wasn’t true. How could this be right?” said Joseph. He had been with the company for 5 years, and was also made an associate of the company in 2008. He used to work in the Wal-Mart store, which is located in Battle Creek. The 29 year old Joseph is astonished that how could any company fire a worker for using medical marijuana, which has been legally prescribed to him by doctors to deal with chronic pain because of sinus cancer and brain tumor.
