imageFeb 4, (THAINDIAN NEWS) A footage that was publicly released by a Houston activist on Wednesday stirred uproar after it unleashed how Houston police beat a teen mercilessly last year. The victim Chad Holley who was 15-year-old at that time was beaten by the police after they suspected him of burglary. It has come to the public view almost after a year since the incident took place on March 24, 2010.

According to the sources, the footage was released by activist Quanell X on ABC’s Houston station, KTRK-TV. The video was originally captured on a surveillance camera at the Uncle Bob’s Self-Storage store. The store authorities had sent the footage to the Houston police and the office of the District Attorney one week after the incident took place. Chad Holley was proved guilty in last October of having stolen cash, jewelry and a keyboard from a city house. The verdict resulted in a two year probation sentence for Chad Holley. The video, however, was not brought to light during the trial of the teenager. Ever since the video got released it received some hard hitting notes from Houston Mayor Annise Parker and prosecutors who severely criticized the release of the video.

Even though some authorities have not shown their approval, the fact that the controversial video was released was certainly applauded by the black community of Houston, one to which accused Chad Holley belongs. The video shows Houston police relentlessly kicking the black boy on a grassy ground where he had fallen while trying to escape from the officers. Chad Holley’s attorney, however, said that his client was not guilty of the stealing act.
