Victims of ‘Brit cabbie from hell’ dub his jail sentence ‘pathetically lenient’

London, Apr 22 (ANI): Victims of John Worboys, the taxi driver convicted of drugging and sexually assaulting women passengers, have hit out after a judge jailed him for eight years.

Last month, Worboys was convicted of 19 charges against 12 women. However, police fear he could have drugged and attacked 200.

Following the revelation, Justice Penry-Davey QC jailed him indefinitely, with a minimum of eight years before he can be considered for release, reports The Sun.

Now, Worboys’ first victim, a 20-year-old student attacked on her way home from London’s West End, said: “It’s pathetically lenient. It’s barely a fortnight for each of us.

“If Mr Penry-Davey is not up to the job, he should stand aside for someone who can sentence rapists properly. He would have got a harsher sentence for drug dealing. That sums up the legal system. My life will never be the same.”

Another added: “I burst into tears. Does this mean I may bump into my rapist in the street when he is released?”

The 51-year-old, of Rotherhithe, South East London, picked up party girls in his black taxi and would tell them he was celebrating a Lotto or casino win.

He then offered them a glass of bubbly, spiked with a “date rape” drug.

Lisa Longstaff, of Women Against Rape, said: “I am concerned about this sentence. But whatever sentence he got wouldn’t make up for what the police did.”

The 51-year-old, who police fear could be one of Britain’s most prolific sex attackers, attacked young women who had been drinking at bars and clubs at trendy night spots in the capital. (ANI)
