Nov 8, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The annual celebration of Veterans Day is observed every November 11, and this year would be no exception. The event will be held at Arlington National Cemetery at 11:00 AM. The day is observed to commemorate and honor the contribution of all those people who served in the armed forces of the United States.
Arlington National Cemetery, like every year, will witness an elaborate and spectacular parade, with wreath of flowers adorning the tombs of these unsung national heroes. Dignitaries will make speeches inside the Memorial Amphitheater, to mark the federal holiday. It will be hosted by Eric K. Shinseki, the Secretary of Veterans Affairs, Karl R. Horst, the Major General and Colonel Roger Dimsdale, Retired, United States Army, National Commander. The entry to this event will be free of cost and would be open to the public.
This day will also be celebrated in many other places. The Providence VA Medical Center will start its program at 10 a.m., in the fifth-floor auditorium, where legislative liaison for the Rhode Island National Guard, Maj. Michael Manning would be the guest speaker. The members of The Rhode Island Aviation Hall of Fame and Providence will be joined by Mayor David N. Cicilline at 1:30 PM in the honor of Providence war hero, Lt. William P. Armstrong. U.S. Army Special Forces Association Rhode Island Chapter 48 will gather at Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery in Exeter, at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday to celebrate this day. Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 325 will observe this day at Vietnam Memorial. There would be several other venues all over the nation, which may or may not be directly related to the army, which would observe the Veterans Day with reverence for the martyrs.
