Vatican denies that it was planning an exorcism show with Discovery
January 11th, 2011 - 1:16 am ICT by Aishwarya BhattVatican City, Jan 10 (THAINDIAN NEWS) The Vatican has denied reports that it was working with Discovery to come up with series on exorcism.
Reports emerged that Discovery was working with the Vatican to produce the series which will reveal various details from the Church’s view on exorcism. When the report emerged last week, the head of Discovery, Clark Bunting was quoted as saying the network has been given exclusive access to the various files in the Vatican that was linked to exorcism.
That report however seems to be news to the man who is directly responsible with all television relations inside the Vatican. Monsignor Paul Tighe of the Pontifical Council for Social Communications denied knowledge of any such arrangement with Discovery.
He however did not completely rule out the fact that the network might have gotten the permission or the word from someone else.
Tighe said that, “They may have had contact with some individual, but we’ve had no contact with Discovery here.”
The Vatican further released a statement later on the subject. The statement denied knowledge of any kind of exorcists within the Vatican. That kind of sums it all for those that were still looking forward to such a program.
