USINPAC asks Congress to demand audit of aid funding to Pakistan
October 12th, 2009 - 1:25 pm ICT by ANIWashington, Oct.12 (ANI): The U.S.-India Political Action Committee (USINPAC) has expressed deep concern that the United States Congress has passed a bill tripling U.S. aid to Pakistan without first establishing accountability and transparency of Pakistani expenditure of US aid funding, past and present.
In addition to that the United States Government has failed to: Gain access for questioning to A.Q. Khan, the disgraced Father of the Pakistani nuclear bomb.
Khan recently boasted about providing nuclear technology for military use to Iran and North Korea.
It also called for investigating Pakistan’s proliferation of nuclear weapons technology to rogue regimes such as North Korea and Iran; and audit the safeguards and security of Pakistan’s nuclear assets from seizure and control by terrorist groups.USINPAC Chairman, Sanjay Puri, expressed the organization’s concern about the Pakistan aid bill by saying that while the new Pakistan assistance legislation passed by Congress last week has provisions that are intended to direct Pakistan military purchases towards a counterinsurgency mission, the U.S. still has no real ability to track how the money is spent.
The U.S.-India Political Action Committee (USINPAC) is the political voice of 2.7 million Indian-Americans. USINPAC provides bipartisan support to candidates for federal, state and local office who support the issues that are important to the Indian-American community. (ANI)
