US will make way for Indo-US nuclear deal: PerinoFebruary 13th, 2008 - 1:45 pm ICT by admin
Washington, Feb 13 (ANI): The United States has said that Washington will continue to cooperate with New Delhi and to make way for Indo-US nuclear deal and will start work on it when India would be ready.
“What I can say about that initiative, which is the civil nuclear arrangement between US and India, is that its something that we would like very much for our country to be able to enter into agreement with India because we believe that nuclear power is a good thing for the environment and its a good thing for powering both electricity for homes and for businesses,” the White House Press Secretary Dana Perino said.
“This agreement is one that we have done very carefully, through the State Department, and trying to work with India, Perino said.
We would hope that they would see the benefits in it, and we continue to work with them to try to make it happen,” she added.
When asked about the contact between the President George W Bush with the Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on the matter.
“I dont think theyve been in touch recently. But, obviously, at the State Department theyre in touch with them (India) quite regularly,” Perino added. (ANI)
