Washington, Dec. 14 (ANI): US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has said that the America has decided to support Pakistan in a “new and vigorous way” on the appeal of the people of Pakistan who are being targeted by Al-Qaeda and the TTP in mosques and marketplaces indiscriminately.
“When you have the TTP and other extremist groups with the support of Al Qaida - that is, beyond doubt, what is happening - going into mosques, going into marketplaces, killing indiscriminately, that’s just so unbelievable and I think the people of Pakistan are saying, wait a minute, we can’t tolerate that anymore,” The Dawn quoted Clinton, as saying.
“So, I think we are supporting, in a very new and vigorous way on both the military and the civilian side, in any way that we can, that the Pakistanis request,” he added.
In an interview to Al Jazeera television, Clinton insisted that the wars against extremists in Afghanistan and Pakistan were interconnected.”How could you not (treat this war as interconnected). That porous, open, very tough terrain that is the boundary between the two countries is very much on everyone’s minds,” she said.
“But we’ve admired the way Pakistan has pulled together to go after those elements of the Taliban that are directly threatening them. And I think that the people of Pakistan are so unified now in support of this military action,” she added. (ANI)
