US, South Korea war games Tuesday
August 16th, 2011 - 2:40 am ICT by IANSWashington, Aug 16 (IANS) The US and South Korea will begin their joint annual military drill in Seoul Tuesday, Xinhua reported.
Tens of thousands of US and South Korean troops are expected to join the 10-day Ulchi Freedom Guardian (UFG) exercise, conducted by the US-South Korea Combined Forces Command, according to the American Forces Press Service.
The drill is held annually since 1975.
The computer-assisted simulation command post exercise is designed “to enhance the interoperability” of the US and South Korean military forces to enhance the “combat readiness of the alliance”, said Army Gen. James Thurman, commander of the Combined Forces Command.
