Oslo, Dec 10 (THAINDIAN NEWS) In a star-studded ceremony in Oslo, the US President Barack Obama accepted the Nobel Peace Prize for 2009 for his endeavors in establishing peace in the world. The ceremony started with a conclave of cars that stopped at the auditorium and the huge limousine stopped just right at the red carpet and the illustrious recipient and the other dignitaries came forward and entered the hall amidst a gushing welcome. The ceremony was well attended by dignitaries from around the world. It also included an eclectic variety of people from the actor Will Smith with his family to Sir Richard Branson.
Live music in the form of opera and other forms welcomed them and were appreciated by the audience too. The committee chairman spoke of the reasons behind awarding Barack Obama the Nobel Peace Prize for 2009. It looked like the committee was well aware of all the controversies that it generated when it had announced earlier that it was going to award the top peace prize to the newly elected US President Barack Obama.
He spoke with justifications for all the reasons for selecting him and spoke eloquently about Obama’s endeavors in ending wars. Afghanistan was an oft-repeated term and he said that many people had being awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for their work in the middle-east regions even though the area is still at war and war is still in progress. He said that this was done because we can’t wait till a definite solution emerges. He said that the Nobel Peace Prize committee must also praise, applaud and cherish the people who are working in this regard, even though the solution may take many more years of work and toil.
Then amongst thundering applause, he was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for 2009. He was all smiles and look certainly delighted at the felicitation.
