US officials examining bin Laden’s hard drive obtained during raid
May 4th, 2011 - 12:35 pm ICT by ANIWashington, May 4 (ANI): The United States is reportedly examining the electronic data, including computers and thumb drives that their assault team had seized during a 40-minute operation to kill Osama bin Laden.
According to reports, the intelligence community is exploring the information obtained during the raid to figure out al Qaeda’s intentions and its key operatives.
A US official has said Washington’s top priority is to dismantle al Qaeda’s roots, and therefore, has turned its focus to eliminate Ayman al-Zawahri, bin Laden’s second in command, and other senior operative planners who pose a threat to western interests.
He also said the concern is that core al Qaeda members in Pakistan might be stepping up attack plans.
“They got bin Laden but not the keys to the kingdom,” the source added.
Reports have surfaced that the materials gathered during the raids are reportedly being examined “at a secret location in Afghanistan,” and a ‘volume of other materials’ that would be “exploited and analysed” has already begun to arrive at CIA headquarters in Langley, Virginia. (ANI)
