U.S. military: Six heat injuries at Port-au-Prince airport
January 19th, 2010 - 12:23 am ICT by BNO NewsPORT-AU-PRINCE (BNO NEWS) — Six people have been injured after an incident at the Port-au-Prince airport, nearly a week after a devastating earthquake killed tens of thousands of people in the Haitian capital, a U.S. military spokeswoman said on Monday.
The spokeswoman said six people, including some Americans, had suffered heat injuries but it was not immediately clear what had happened. “We are still trying to gather more information,” she said.
CNN initially reported that at least thirty Americans had been injured.
A U.S. State Department spokesman said he was checking on the reports, and had no immediate confirmation.
