October 8th, 2009 - 6:45 pm ICT by ANIWashington, Oct 8(ANI): An American news organization has reported that the US could be planning a possible attack on Iran and may use a bunker-busting bomb called the Massive Ordnance Penetrator (MOP).
ABC News reported that the departments which requested the MOP had responsibility over North Korea and Iran.”The Department has an Urgent Operational Need (UON) for the capability to strike hard and deeply buried targets in high threat environments. The MOP is the weapon of choice to meet the requirements of the UON,” ABC report stated Pentagon’s explanation for the MOP.
The report further said that US aerospace manufacturer and defense contractor McDonnell Douglas has also been awarded a 51.9 million dollar contract to build four MOPs, The Jerusalem Post reports. (ANI)
