US man arrested for raping, impregnating, kidnapping teen relative decades ago
April 30th, 2011 - 2:07 pm ICT by ANINew York, Apr 30 (ANI): A man in the US has been arrested for raping, impregnating, and kidnapping a teen relative in the 1970s and 80s.
According to CNN, US Marshals in Kentucky took James David Gibson, 63, into custody this week, while he was at his granddaughter’s house in Jenkins, Ky., the New York Daily News reported.
The unidentified victim, whose exact relation to Gibson wasn’t revealed, had first made the bombshell revelation to police two years ago.
The woman, who was 13-years-old when the sexual assaults supposedly began, said she remained silent for decades out of fear for the life of the daughter she shares with her abuser.
Once the child grew up, the victim decided to come forward with her story, and the police launched an investigation in 2009.
In her testimony, she said she and Gibson were living in Benson, Ariz., until she became pregnant, and he then kidnapped her and forced her to live with him in Tennessee.
Gibson refused to take a DNA test, and he has been issued with an arrest warrant charging him with kidnapping and sexual assault of a minor.
After two years on the run, he is now awaiting extradition to Arizona. (ANI)
