- Jerusalem, Oct 13(ANI): A German news magazine has reported that the US forces had recently raided a freighter in the Gulf of Suez that was shipping arms from Iran to Syria.
US soldiers seized seven containers full of 7.62-millimeter bullets for Kalashnikov rifles and an eighth container full of cartridges suitable for the manufacture of additional rounds, Der Spiegel reports.
The reports also had a statement from a Hamburg-based shipping company, Leonhardt and Blumberg, under which the freighter is registered. It said that a state-owned shipping company Islamic Republic of Iran Shipping Lines was using the 243-meter-long ship for years.
The US forces has permitted the ship to dock in Malta, where the containers have been secured. (ANI)
