Washington, May 2 (IANS) US erupted in joy as news broke that Al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden has been killed in Pakistan.
There was jubilation outside the White House after US President Barack Obama announced that Osama was killed by US forces in Pakistan’s Abbotabad city.
Many chanted “USA! USA!” while others screamed “Hey, hey, hey, goodbye!”, referring to Osama bin Laden’s killing.
The gathering also sang the national anthem.
A crowd gathered in New York at ground zero, which is the site where the World Trade Center once stood.
Osama was on top of the US “most wanted” list since the traumatic Sep 11, 2001 attacks on the World Trade Center in New York and the Pentagon.
