US embassy in Thailand warns of terror threat
January 13th, 2012 - 7:02 pm ICT by IANS ( Leave a comment )Bangkok, Jan 13 (IANS/RIA Novosti) The US embassy in Thailand Friday alerted American citizens that terrorists may be planning to conduct attacks in tourist areas in Bangkok in the near future.
“US citizens are urged to exercise caution when visiting public areas where large groups of Western tourists gather in Bangkok,” the embassy said in an emergency message.
“US citizens are encouraged to maintain a heightened awareness when out in public.”
Americans were asked to remain alert for unattended packages in crowded places and report any suspicious behaviour to the nearest law enforcement personnel.
It was, however, not clear as to why the alert was sounded.
