Islamabad, Oct 15 (IANS) The US embassy in Pakistan has “strongly” condemned the terrorist attacks in Lahore Thursday and the suicide bombings in Peshawar and Kohat towns in the country’s restive northwest.
“The horrific injuries and loss of life witnessed in Lahore, Peshawar and Kohat today, along with those lost in the attack on the Pakistan Army General Headquarters, are another stark reminder of the amoral nature of those who commit such acts,” a US embassy statement said.
“These attacks will not deter the people of Pakistan from continuing in their commitment to a free and democratic society,” the statement added.
“The United States will continue to support the people and government of Pakistan in combating all forms of violence. We mourn the senseless loss of life and extend our condolences to the victims’ families, friends, and community,” the statement said.
Heavily armed Taliban in military fatigues simultaneously attacked three police establishments in Lahore, resulting in the deaths of 25 people, including 10 attackers. Ten people were killed in a suicide bombing in Kohat, while an eight-year-old child died in a similar attack in Peshawar.
