University Of Illinois’ Classes Remains Suspended Owing To Chicago Blizzard

Feb 2, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Chicago blizzard canceled nearly 1300 flights and also hampered the transportation system as the heavy storm hit the city and near about 30 states on Tuesday afternoon. The National Weather Service called the blizzard as “life threatening” winter storm. The officials of National Weather Service have urged people not to travel outdoors and there is an emergency, then the travelers must carry a “winter survival kit” along with him. Moreover, the Governor of all the states have declared a state of emergency keeping in mind the safety of the officials. As a result, most of the schools, colleges and universities were closed as the citizens of United States prepared themselves for the massive storm. Likewise, some branches of University of Illinois were closed where as some were opened.
Illinois State University was closed on Tuesday owing to the winter storm. On Monday, Washington University in St. Louis, Eastern Illinois University, Bradley University and University of Missouri announced that the classes would remain suspended for the impending storm. On the other hand, The University of Illinois declared that they night have classes as it has only been closed twice due to weather condition. However, the campus officials reported that if the classes are canceled, then the students would be notified through telephone or local radio stations.
On the other hand, Champaign-Urbana Mass Transit District continued its regular bus service on Monday and the other operators ensured the safety of the students. Eastern Illinois University in Charleston was, however, closed on Tuesday along with many other schools and colleges. Bradley University in Peoria also closed its classes owing to the storm.
