Unasur summit to open in Argentina Tuesday
May 3rd, 2010 - 4:39 am ICT by IANSBuenos Aires, May 3 (IANS) The Summit of the South American Union of Nations (Unasur) will open here Tuesday.
Unasur includes Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Guayana, Ecuador, Paraguay, Peru, Surinam, Uruguay and Venezuela.
Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva and Uruguayan President Jose Mujica have already confirmed their attendance, Prensa Latina reported Sunday.
Unasur foreign ministers will meet in Buenos Aires Monday before the summit. The meeting will finalise details of the summit’s agenda and analyse the documents the presidents would sign.
Quake aid to Chile and Haiti, Honduran political situation and Unasur-US dialogue are among the topics for discussion.
The bloc was created in Peru Dec 8, 2004, and its treaty was signed in Brasilia May 23, 2008.
