“The members of the Security Council condemned in the strongest terms the wave of terrorist attacks across Iraq on Sept. 8 and 9 causing numerous deaths and injuries and damage to the French honorary Consulate premises in Nasiriyah,” Xinhua quoted the UNSC saying in a statement.

“They expressed their deep sympathy and sincere condolences to the victims of these heinous acts and to their families, and to the people and the government of Iraq,” said the statement.

The 15-nation UN body reaffirmed that terrorism in all its forms and manifestations constitutes one of the most serious threats to international peace and security, and that “any acts of terrorism are criminal and unjustifiable, regardless of their motivation, wherever, whenever and by whomsoever committed.”
