Pristina, March 17 (DPA) International security forces in Kosovo stormed a district court building in a town early Monday morning and arrested 53 Serbs who had occupied the building since Friday. The UN police and NATO peacekeepers launched the raid in the divided town of Kosovska Mitrovica before dawn and led out handcuffed protesters.
Some 100 police and NATO peacekeepers had led the raid on the building, UN police spokesman Besim Hoti said.
A river divides Mitrovica between an Albanian-dominated section in the south and the northern part, which is the hub of the largest Serb enclave in Kosovo.
Albanians make up a 90 percent majority in Kosovo, which declared independence from Serbia last month, but Serbs are a majority in a fifth of the Kosovo territory north of Mitrovica.
