UN chief condemns Pakistan school bus attack
September 14th, 2011 - 2:30 am ICT by IANSUnited Nations, Sep 14 (IANS) UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon Tuesday condemned the attack on a school bus in Pakistan in which four children and the driver were killed.
Gunmen fired indiscriminately at the private school bus in the Matni area on the outskirts of Peshawar around 1.30 p.m., killing four children and the driver. Fourteen other children and two female teachers were wounded.
“The secretary-general is shocked by today’s attack near Peshawar on a school bus carrying young children which resulted in a number of deaths and injuries,” Xinhua reported quoting a statement issued here by Ban’s spokesman said.
“The secretary-general strongly condemns this abhorrent act of terrorism and extends his heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims,” it said.
