London, Nov 29 (ANI): Former Deputy PM of UK John Prescott made a shocking discovery while tracing his family tree for a BBC documentary.

He found that his great great grandmother had four children by her own father.

The veteran Labour MP - who famously had a fling with secretary Tracey Temple - has learnt that great great gran Athaliah had the kids when she lived with her widowed father Thomas.

“From what I’ve been told the daughters took over the roles of their mothers when they died. And they took over all the roles. It was quite common,” News of the World quoted Genealogist Gillian Smith as telling the Hull MP.

Prescott said: “It’s something that people don’t want to talk about - society looks down sometimes, but I think she was a wonderful woman.”

Athaliah later went on to marry her neighbour in the north Wales town of Chirk and had eight more children.

The programme also gave the fervent anti-hunting campaigner another shock - one of his ancestors was a well-known foxhunter called John Morgan. (ANI)
