UK police force losing fight against racism, says report
September 24th, 2009 - 2:55 pm ICT by ANI ( Leave a comment )London, Sep.24 (ANI): Britain’s largest police force is in danger of losing out on making progress in fighting racism since the murder of Stephen Lawrence, a new report says. According to the Macpherson Report that looked into the killing of the black teenager, a review of race and faith issues within the force shows that there is to identify a new vision, which can provide a comparable level of inspiration.
According to The Telegraph, the review found evidence ethnic minority officers remain at a disadvantage when competing for promotion and lack confidence in the process.
They said further work is needed to find how to increase the number of ethnic minority officers at higher ranks.
They also said Muslim and other minority staff need more vocal support if the force is to tackle racism in the wider community. (ANI)
