UK man banned from getting drunk for 7yrs
July 8th, 2009 - 6:16 pm ICT by ANILondon, Jul 8 (ANI): A man, who committed a series of drunk and disorderly offences, has been banned from getting drunk anywhere in England and Wales for the next seven years.
Unemployed David Peers has also been ordered by Justices at South East Surrey Magistrates’ Court not to act abusively, enter public houses or social clubs in Reigate, Redhill or Merstham or carry open bottles of alcohol until 2016.
Police say that the ban, conditions of which form an ASBO served on 45-year-old Peers, will bring relief to the residents of Redhill, Surrey, who have been plagued with his anti-social behaviour.
“David Peers has a history of drinking and disorderly behaviour,” the Telegraph quoted Pc Doug Stott, of Surrey Police, as saying.
“Despite extensive intervention by Surrey Police and our partner agencies, Peers’ has not shown a positive change in his behaviour and has continued to verbally abuse and be aggressive towards local businesses and residents.
“So far this year Peers has been arrested and charged 11 times, mainly for public order offences.
“On one occasion he was seen urinating on shop windows something which is utterly despicable and totally unacceptable.
“David Peers brought misery to the lives of local people with his relentless anti-social behaviour and I would encourage members of the public to work with us and let us know if individuals are in breach of their ASBO conditions,” Stott added. (ANI)
