- Abu Dhabi, Nov 10 (IANS) The United Arab Emirates (UAE) would finance the construction of a dam in Burkina Faso in west Africa, WAM news agency reported Tuesday.
The loan agreement was signed at the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development (ADFD) headquarters in Abu Dhabi by Mohammed Saif Al Suwaidi, acting director general of Abu Dhabi Fund for Development and the Ambassador of Burkina Faso to Saudi Arabia Omar Diawara.
Al Suwaidi said that the agreement translates the policy and the priorities of the leadership in Abu Dhabi to support developing countries.
“We seek through this agreement to contribute to the strategic project to improve the standard of living of local people in Burkina Faso as well as achieving food security through the expansion of cultivated lands to increase agricultural production in that country,” he said.
