UAE seizes cannabis bound for Europe
February 15th, 2010 - 5:26 am ICT by IANSDubai, Feb 15 (IANS) Customs officials here in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have seized a parcel containing two kilograms of cannabis after a tip off given by their European counterparts, WAM news agency reported.
Customs inspectors at Dubai Cargo village foiled a bid to smuggle the banned drugs into an European country.
The parcel arrived here from an African country and was discovered after exchange of information with two European capital cities about the illegal shipment, the report said Sunday.
The person who was to receive the parcel in one of the European countries in question was detained for questioning. The accused was earlier involved in two cases of heroin trading. Cooperation was sought from one more European city for information regarding the illegal shipment.
