UAE rebuilds school in Swat

Swat Valley (Pakistan) , Nov 26 (IANS/WAM) The UAE has opened its first school in Swat valley, as part of its Pakistan Assistance Programme directed by President Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

The government high school, which was demolished in floods, was rebuilt by the UAE within the framework of its educational assistance in Pakistan at a cost of $26 million.

It was opened by UAE Ambassador Essa Abdullah Al-Basha Al-Noaimi in the presence of Peshawar Corps Commander Asif Yaseen Malik. A number of other senior officials and members of the UAE diplomatic mission in Pakistan were also present on this occasion.

“The completion of the school building is a great achievement whose construction is part of the UAE assistance of $100 million for rehabilitation”, said the UAE ambassador.

A total of 51 schools in Swat will get the UAE’s assistance for building basic facilities. Drilling of wells and equipping hospitals with necessary medical facilities are also among the assistance programme, the ambassador stated.
