UAE denounces Iran mosque bombing

April 13th, 2008 - 7:42 pm ICT by admin -

Abu Dhabi, April 13 (IANS) The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has denounced the bombing of an Iranian mosque which killed at least eight people, WAM news agency reported Sunday. Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan condemned Saturday’s blast in a mosque in the southern Iranian city of Shiraz as a despicable terror attack.

“The United Arab Emirates strongly condemns this despicable act of cowardice by terrorists. We are confident that the Iranian authorities will find the culprits and bring them to justice,” he said.

Sheikh Abdullah expressed his government’s sympathy with the bereaved families of the victims and wished speedy recovery of the injured.

Besides the killed, more than 50 people were injured in the blast, which took place while the local cleric was delivering his speech, according to Fars news agency.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility by any group for the blast, the agency said.
