UAE condemns Turkey suicide blast
October 31st, 2010 - 7:55 pm ICT by IANSAbu Dhabi, Oct 31 (IANS/WAM) The United Arab Emirate (UAE) condemned the suicide bombing in Turkey, which injured 22 people Sunday, as “a coward terrorist act”.
A statement by the UAE foreign ministry described the attack as “a coward terrorist act” and said it stands by the Turkish government and people against terrorist attacks that aim to disrupt growth and development in Turkey.
The bombing occurred at the central Taksim Square of Turkey’s capital city Istanbul, in which 12 civilians and 10 policemen were injured, according to media reports.
Istanbul police Chief Huseyin Capkin said the explosion was set off by a male suicide bomber.
The Taksim Square is a main tourist attraction and a transport hub in Istanbul, surrounded by many restaurants and shops.
