Abu Dhabi, Feb 25 (IANS) The Red Crescent Authority (RCA), the channel through which the United Arab Emirates (UAE) gives humanitarian aid to the distressed, has completed the first phase of the Sheikh Zayed Neighbourhood Reconstruction project in Jerusalem, WAM reported Monday. The AED 15 million $4 million) phase 1 of the project includes 58 housing units with amenities and facilities for Palestinian teachers and is part of the RCA’s reconstruction efforts in the occupied Palestinian territories to alleviate the suffering of Palestinians as well as improve their living conditions.

RCA Chairman Khalifa Nasser Al Suwaidi reiterated that the agency’s president, Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, is keen on providing proper accommodation for families that are affected by the current turmoil in the Middle East.

The next phase Sheikh Hamdan Neighborhood project will come up in the next five months at a cost of AED 20 million ($5 million).
