UAE, China to cooperate in fighting crime
October 9th, 2010 - 10:32 pm ICT by IANSAbu Dhabi, Oct 9 (IANS/WAM) The United Arab Emirates (UAE) and China have signed an agreement to cooperate with each other in combating crimes and terrorist activities.
The agreement was signed here Thursday between Chinese Public Security Minister Meng Jianzhu and UAE’s Deputy Prime Minister, Lt. General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who is also the Interior Minister.
Both the countries have committed to prevent and fight crimes against individuals or properties, terrorist activities and corruption as per the framework of law.
The two sides agreed to exchange information and technologies in fighting cybre crimes as well as in the areas of civil defence, firefighting, training, border management, scientific research and expansion of cooperation between the Interpol offices.
The Chinese official, accompanied by a delegation, also discussed a number of topics of common interest between the two countries.
Sheikh Saif stressed depth of relations between the two countries and keenness of the leadership in both countries to bolster cooperation. Chinese Ambassador to UAE, Gao Yusheng, and other senior officers of the UAE also took part in the discussion.
