UAE charity sends aid to famine-hit Somalia
August 10th, 2011 - 11:43 pm ICT by IANSSharjah, Aug 10 (IANS/WAM) A charity organisation in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has distributed food aid to over 2,000 families affected by the famine in Somalia.
The Sharjah Charity Association has handed out food packages to 2,350 families at Shebila village near the capital city of Mogadishu, which is receiving a flow of refugees from other parts of the country hit by the worst drought in six decades.
It is also procuring food stuff for its Somalia operation from neighbouring countries, and has urged for donations for victims of the famine.
