UAE charity helps Sumatra quake victims
October 23rd, 2009 - 8:33 pm ICT by IANS ( Leave a comment )Sumatra (Indonesia), Oct 23 (WAM) A charity in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has started distribution of emergency relief supplies among the quake victims in the Sumatra island of Indonesia, WAM news agency reported Friday.
The Khalifa Charity Foundation is undertaking the relief operation as per the directives of UAE President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Abu Dhabi crown prince Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the report said.
Indonesia was hit by earthquakes and hurricanes early this month causing material and human loss. Rice, sugar, cooking oil, tea and other basis food items are being provided.
The charity also distributed relief kits consisting of blankets, tents, clothes and other materials. More than 10,000 families in the island have been benefited from the project.
