UAE armed forces release book on role in Afghanistan
January 1st, 2012 - 10:38 pm ICT by IANSAbu Dhabi, Jan 1 (IANS/WAM) The armed forces of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have released a book on its role in providing security, stability and humanitarian aid in war-torn Afghanistan.
The 224-page book — “The Mission: Winds of Goodness” — that was published in Arabic and English, chronicles the UAE’s participation in the international operation in Afghanistan and its mission to bring stability in the country.
The book, comprising six chapters, also sheds light on the participation of the armed forces in various parts of the world, including Lebanon in 1976 and 2001, Kuwait in 1990 and 2003, Somalia in 1993, Kosovo in 1999, Pakistan in the wake of an earthquake in 2005 and after the floods in 2010, and Bahrain and Libya in 2011.
